How jobs are shared with tradespeople

You see the job before you pay, then take it or leave it. There is no subscription and no monthly fee, and each job is sold to one tradesperson only.

How we decide who hears about a job first

When a job is posted, we work out who can do it, put those tradespeople in order and text or email a small group from the top of the list at the same time. This is how that order is decided.

Who is in the running

You are only considered for a job if all of these are true:

  • your business details have been verified and your email address is confirmed
  • you cover that trade
  • the job is within the travel distance you have set from your base postcode
  • you have text or email alerts switched on
  • you have not paused offers

Distance decides whether you are in the running. It does not move you up or down the order.

If a job comes in during your quiet hours and it is not an emergency, we will not text you then. We let you know when your quiet hours end, as long as the job is still available.

How the order is worked out

Everyone in the running gets a score, and the highest scores are told first. Three things add to your score and one takes away from it:

  • Time since you were last told about a job. This counts the most. Each day adds 10 points, up to 30 days, so work is spread around rather than going to the same few people every time.
  • How often you take the jobs you are told about. Worth up to 20 points. Jobs someone else bought before you had a chance to answer do not count against you, and if you are new, you start on full marks.
  • Your average customer rating. Worth up to 10 points. Until you have reviews, you are scored as if you had 4 out of 5, so having no history is not treated as poor work.
  • Buying a job and not contacting the customer. Each confirmed case takes off up to 30 points. The penalty fades away over 90 days.

We may adjust these numbers as we learn from real jobs. If we do, we will update this page.

Does paying change the order?

No. There is no way to pay to be told about jobs sooner or to move up the order, and everyone pays the same fixed price for the same job. If you use auto-buy, it only works on jobs you have already been told about. It does not move you up the list.

If nobody takes the job

If no one on the list buys it, we try once more with everyone’s travel distance widened by half. After that, the job stays on the jobs board for up to a week for anyone who covers it.

Every live job can be bought from the jobs board by any matching tradesperson, first come, first served. Being notified about a job does not reserve it.

Prices

Prices are fixed per trade and job type, set by us and shown before you buy. Jobs needed the same day cost more, and jobs where the customer is only gathering quotes cost less. Prices are shown exclusive of VAT.

Refunds

You can report a problem with a lead from your dashboard within 48 hours of buying it. The full rules are in section 11 of our terms and conditions.
