1. Who we are and what this is
1.1 GlosFix (“we”, “us”, “the platform”) is operated by TWA Marketing Ltd, company no. 17423341, of No1 Business Centre, 1 Alvin Street, Gloucester, England, GL1 3EJ. You can contact us at hello@glosfix.co.uk.
1.2 GlosFix connects people who need work done at a property (“customers”) with local tradespeople (“tradespeople”). Customers post a job for free. Tradespeople pay a fixed fee to receive that customer’s contact details.
1.3 We are an introduction service, not a contractor. We do not carry out work, quote for it, supervise it or guarantee it. Any contract for the work itself is between the customer and the tradesperson directly. We are not a party to it and are not responsible for what either side does once introduced.
1.4 These terms apply to everyone who uses the site. Sections 3 to 6 are mainly for customers, sections 7 to 12 mainly for tradespeople, and the rest for both. By posting a job or registering as a tradesperson you agree to them.
1.5 We may open sister sites for neighbouring areas. If we do, a job posted on one may be shown to tradespeople registered on another, so that someone near a boundary is reachable from both, and these terms will apply across all of them.
2. Accounts
2.1 You must be at least 18 to use the platform.
2.2 An account is created for a customer automatically when they post their first job. Tradespeople register separately. You are responsible for keeping your login details private and for everything done under your account.
2.3 We send a one-time code by text message to confirm a customer’s phone number before a job goes live, and to confirm a tradesperson’s mobile before they can receive offers. You need a UK mobile that can receive texts to use the platform.
2.4 You must give us accurate information and keep it up to date. Posting a job with someone else’s contact details, or registering as a business you do not represent, is a breach of these terms and may also be a criminal offence.
3. Posting a job (customers)
3.1 Posting a job is free and creates no obligation to hire anyone.
3.2 When you post a job we ask for the trade, the type of job, a description, your postcode and full address, your name, email and phone number, when you want the work done, and a rough budget. Only the postcode area, the job type, your description-free summary, budget band and timescale are shown to tradespeople before purchase. Your name, phone number, email, full address, property access notes and photos are released only to the one tradesperson who buys the lead (see section 5).
3.3 You confirm that:
- the job is genuine and you have authority to arrange work at that property;
- the contact details are your own, or you have the express permission of the person whose details they are;
- any photos you upload are yours to share and do not show other people without their consent.
3.4 We remove location data from photos before they are stored, but you should not upload anything you would not want a stranger to see.
3.5 A job stays open for the period you choose when posting (or our default if you choose none), after which it expires. Jobs marked as needed today expire sooner. You can cancel a job at any time before it is bought using the link in your emails or from your dashboard. Once a tradesperson has paid for it, it cannot be cancelled from your side. Contact us instead.
4. How jobs reach tradespeople
4.1 When your job goes live we notify a small group of verified tradespeople covering that trade and area, ranked by our own scoring (responsiveness, past customer feedback, distance). If none buys it, the next group is told, and after that the job becomes visible to all verified tradespeople in that trade.
4.2 One tradesperson only. Each job is sold once. Your details go to a single tradesperson, and nobody else receives them unless you ask us to find someone else (section 6).
4.3 We do not choose the tradesperson for you and you cannot choose them either; the first verified tradesperson to pay gets the lead. We may tell you which business has bought it so you know who to expect.
4.4 We cannot promise that anyone will buy your job. If nobody does within its lifetime we will let you know.
5. What happens with your details
5.1 Once a lead is bought, the tradesperson can see your name, phone, email (once confirmed), full address, access notes and photos. They may contact you by phone, text or email about the job. We ask them to do so promptly and during reasonable hours, but we do not control their conduct.
5.2 We will send you a short number of follow-up messages by text and email: to confirm the job is still wanted, to check whether the tradesperson has been in touch, and later to ask how the work went. Replying is optional, but your answers are how we decide which tradespeople to send work to next, and how we decide whether a tradesperson’s refund claim is justified. You can unsubscribe from non-essential emails at any time.
5.3 Feedback you give is used internally to rank tradespeople. It is not published as a review.
5.4 Our Privacy Notice explains what we keep, for how long, and your rights. In short: your contact details are removed from a job automatically 365 days after it closes; receipts and records of the sale are kept longer because we are required to.
6. If it goes wrong (customers)
6.1 If the tradesperson never contacts you, tell us using the link in our follow-up message. We will offer to pass your job to a different tradesperson. We will only do so with your agreement, because it means a second person receiving your details.
6.2 We do not guarantee the tradesperson’s work, price, timekeeping, qualifications or insurance. We check what we can (section 8) but you should satisfy yourself before agreeing to any work. Ask for references, check insurance, and get a written quote.
6.3 Any complaint about the work itself is between you and the tradesperson. We will help where we can and we take feedback seriously in deciding who receives leads, but we cannot arbitrate, refund the tradesperson’s fee to you (you paid nothing) or compel anyone to return.
7. Registering as a tradesperson
7.1 Registration is open to sole traders and limited companies carrying on a trade in the UK. You must give your trading name, a contact name, a UK mobile, an email, and either your Companies House number or, for sole traders, details of your public liability insurance and a copy of the certificate.
7.2 By registering you confirm that you are qualified and, where the law requires it, registered or certified to carry out the trades you select (for example Gas Safe, NICEIC or equivalent), and that you hold public liability insurance appropriate to the work.
7.3 You must tell us if your insurance lapses, your business closes, or you stop offering a trade you have selected. We may suspend accounts whose insurance has expired.
7.4 Tradesperson accounts are business accounts. You use the platform in the course of your trade and the consumer cancellation rights in the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 do not apply to lead purchases.
8. Verification
8.1 For limited companies we check the company number against Companies House and that the name you gave matches an active company. For sole traders we review the insurance certificate you upload. We may also ask for further evidence or approve accounts manually.
8.2 Verification confirms that a business exists and, for sole traders, that insurance was in place on the date shown on the certificate. It is not a check of competence, qualifications, criminal record or the quality of past work, and we do not describe it to customers as such. You must not describe yourself as “GlosFix verified”, “approved” or similar in a way that suggests otherwise.
8.3 If you add a trade to your profile after verification we may review the account again before sending you leads in that trade.
8.4 You must confirm your email address and your mobile number before you can receive or buy leads.
9. Leads and prices
9.1 A lead is the contact details of one customer for one job. Prices are fixed per trade and job type, set by us, and shown before you buy. Jobs needed the same day carry a higher price; jobs where the customer has told us they are only gathering quotes carry a lower one.
9.2 Prices are shown exclusive of VAT. Where VAT applies it is stated on the receipt.
9.3 Being notified about a lead does not reserve it. Leads are sold to the first verified tradesperson to buy, whether from a notification or from the jobs board. Once bought, the job is withdrawn from everyone else immediately.
9.4 We may change lead prices at any time. A change applies to jobs posted after it, not to a price you have already been shown for a specific job.
9.5 Buying a lead gives you the customer’s details for the purpose of contacting them about that job. You must not use them for anything else, share them, add them to a marketing list or contact them after they have asked you not to. Doing so is a breach of these terms and of data protection law, for which you are responsible as a controller in your own right.
9.6 You must not post jobs as a customer in order to test, game or manipulate the platform, and you must not share your account with anyone else.
10. Payment
10.1 To buy leads you must save a payment card. Card details are collected and held by Stripe; we never see or store the full card number. By saving a card you authorise us to charge it, without further confirmation from you, each time you press Buy this lead. Your bank may occasionally require you to complete an extra security step.
10.2 The charge is taken at the moment of purchase. If it fails, you have not bought the lead and it remains available to others. We will tell you why where the bank gives a reason.
10.3 If your card is charged for a lead that had, in the same moment, already been sold to somebody else, we refund the charge automatically and in full.
10.4 A receipt is issued for every purchase and is available from your dashboard and by email. Where we are VAT registered it is a simplified VAT invoice, which is valid for supplies up to £250 including VAT and does not require your address.
10.5 You can update or remove your card at any time. Removing it does not affect purchases already made.
11. Refunds and disputes
11.1 Leads are sold as customer introductions, not as guaranteed work. A customer choosing someone else, changing their mind, or being unavailable for a few days is not a fault in the lead and is not refundable.
11.2 You can report a problem with a lead from your dashboard within 48 hours of buying it. Refunds are given where the lead was not what it was sold as:
- The number does not work (dead, wrong, or belongs to someone who did not post the job).
- The customer will not answer. We ask the customer ourselves after a sale. If they have ignored our messages as well as yours, the lead is refunded automatically.
- The job was not genuine or was a duplicate of one already sold. A person reviews these claims.
11.3 Automatic refunds for “dead number” and “no answer” are given only where our own contact attempts corroborate yours. Where they do not, for example because the customer has replied to us since the sale, the claim is reviewed by a person, and we may ask you what you did to make contact.
11.4 A refunded lead is withdrawn from you. You must delete the customer’s details and must not contact them further. The job is not automatically passed to another tradesperson; the customer is asked first.
11.5 We keep the number of refunds each account receives under review. Accounts with a pattern of claims, or that we reasonably believe are misusing the refund process, may be limited to manual review or closed.
11.6 Refunds are made to the card that was charged, usually within a few days.
12. Conduct
12.1 Tradespeople must:
- contact the customer promptly (the platform assumes within a working day) and during reasonable hours;
- deal with the customer honestly and give a written quote before starting work;
- comply with the law, including consumer protection rules that apply when contracting with a householder (the customer’s right to cancel a contract made at their home, for example);
- not use pressure-selling, misrepresent qualifications, or take payment for work not done.
12.2 We may suspend or close a tradesperson account, with or without refund of unused purchases, if we receive credible complaints, if verification is found to have been obtained with false information, if insurance lapses, or for any serious breach of these terms.
12.3 Customers must not post jobs they do not intend to have done, post the same job repeatedly, or use the platform to obtain free site visits with no intention of hiring.
13. Closing your account
13.1 Tradespeople can close their account from the dashboard. This removes the saved card, uploaded documents, phone number and profile, withdraws any live offers, and stops all messages. It cannot be undone. Records of leads bought are kept as receipts, as required by law, but cannot be used to contact you.
13.2 Customers can ask us to delete their account by emailing hello@glosfix.co.uk. Jobs already sold remain with the tradesperson who bought them; we will remove your details from our copy.
13.3 We may close accounts that have been inactive for 24 months.
14. Our liability
14.1 Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.
14.2 We are not liable for the acts, omissions, work or workmanship of any tradesperson, nor for the conduct of any customer. Any claim in respect of work done must be made against the person who did it.
14.3 We do not guarantee that the platform will be available at all times or free from errors. Lead notifications depend on mobile networks and email services outside our control; a missed text is not grounds for a claim.
14.4 To tradespeople, our total liability arising out of the platform in any twelve-month period is limited to the amount you paid us for leads in that period. We are not liable for loss of profit, loss of business or indirect loss.
14.5 To customers, who pay nothing, we are liable only for loss that is a foreseeable result of our breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care, and not for anything arising from the work itself.
15. Data protection
15.1 We process personal data as described in our Privacy Notice. Customers should note that posting a job means their details will be given to one tradesperson, and, if sister sites are used, may be transferred to the sister site on which that tradesperson is registered.
15.2 A tradesperson who buys a lead becomes a controller of that customer’s data and must handle it lawfully. In particular: use it for the job only, keep it secure, delete it when no longer needed, and honour any request from the customer to stop contact.
15.3 We keep customer contact details on a job for 365 days after it closes, then remove them. Financial records are kept for six years.
16. General
16.1 We may change these terms. Material changes will be notified to registered users by email at least 14 days before they take effect. Continuing to use the platform after that date means you accept them.
16.2 We may change how the platform works at any time, including pricing, the notification process, verification requirements and the areas covered.
16.3 If any part of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest still applies.
16.4 These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction, except that consumers resident elsewhere in the UK may bring proceedings in their home nation.
16.5 Complaints: email complaints@glosfix.co.uk. We aim to respond within 5 working days. Consumers may also use the online dispute resolution options available to them; we are not currently signed up to an alternative dispute resolution scheme.
