Plumber jobs you can post
Choose the job closest to yours. If it isn’t listed, pick Something else and describe it in your own words.
From leaking taps to boilers and bathrooms
You can post any plumbing or heating job here, small or large. The job list covers tap installation, washing machine and dishwasher plumbing, shower installation, blocked toilets, water leaks, bathroom refits, boiler servicing, boiler replacement, and no heating or hot water. If yours isn't listed, pick "Something else" and describe it in your own words.
Small jobs are worth posting too. A dripping tap, a toilet that won't stop running or a dishwasher that needs plumbing in might only be a short visit, and it goes quicker when the plumber knows what they're walking into.
Bigger jobs take more planning. A bathroom refit often brings in a tiler, a plasterer and an electrician as well as the plumber. A boiler replacement has to meet Building Regulations and, if it's a gas boiler, be fitted by a Gas Safe registered engineer.
Not every plumber does every job. Plenty of plumbers don't do gas work at all, and some don't take on drainage or full bathroom installs. Saying clearly what you need helps the right person pick it up. You can add up to five photos when you post, and they make a real difference: a photo of the boiler, the leak or the room tells a plumber more than a paragraph.
You also say roughly when you need the work done, and that sets how long the listing stays up, up to a month. The plumber who takes it on will contact you to look at the job and give you a price. Nothing is agreed until you accept their quote, and your contract is with them, not with GlosFix.
Emergency plumbing, servicing and repairs
Some jobs can't wait: a burst pipe, water through a ceiling, an overflowing toilet when it's the only one, or no heating in cold weather with a baby or elderly relative at home. For these, choose the emergency option when you post. We text local plumbers straight away, day or night, and emergency jobs aren't held back by the quiet hours tradespeople set. Plumbers pay more for emergency jobs, so please only choose it when it really can't wait.
While you wait, you can limit the damage:
- For a leak, turn off the water at the stopcock, often under the kitchen sink. If water is near light fittings or sockets, switch the electricity off at the consumer unit.
- For no heating or hot water, check the boiler has power, look at the pressure gauge and write down any fault code on the display.
- Don't take the cover off a boiler or try to repair any gas appliance yourself.
If you can smell gas, don't post a job. Get some fresh air and call the National Gas Emergency Service free on 0800 111 999.
Servicing and routine repairs are a different matter. A boiler service, a dripping tap or a slow drain can be planned, so post it with a timescale like "within a month" or "no rush" and a plumber can fit it around other work.
If you're a landlord, mention that you need a gas safety record. By law, gas appliances and flues you provide for tenants must be checked every 12 months by a Gas Safe registered engineer, and many engineers can do the check on the same visit as a service.
Why use GlosFix to find a plumber in Gloucester?
We do the searching for you. Post your job free, with no account needed, and we let the plumbers on GlosFix who cover your area know about it. The first plumber to take it on gets your contact details. Nobody else does, so you won't get calls from firms you never asked to hear from, and there's no bidding war.
The plumber who takes your job has paid for it, which is why we only pass it to one. They'll get in touch to talk it through and arrange a quote. You're under no obligation to accept it.
Plumbers set how far they travel, so cover gets thinner the further out you are. Post the job anyway. If no one takes it on, we'll tell you, and you've paid nothing.
For regular jobs, your listing stays up to match when you need the work done, up to a month, and we check in with you by email and text so you can take it down once it's sorted. Emergency jobs aren't left sitting on the site: if nobody has taken one on within 24 hours, we remove it and let you know.
A word on checks, so you know where you stand. For limited companies we check the company number against Companies House. For sole traders we review the insurance certificate they upload. That isn't a check of anyone's skill or qualifications. For gas work, look the engineer up on the Gas Safe Register before they start.
GlosFix doesn't do the work or set prices. Your agreement is with the plumber you choose.
Before a tradesperson starts work
Registrations
Some work must be done by a registered professional. Work on a gas boiler, cooker or fire must be done by a Gas Safe registered engineer, which you can check on the Gas Safe Register.
Our business check
Limited companies are checked with Companies House and sole traders upload their insurance certificate. Trade registrations are confirmed by the tradesperson when they sign up.
Get the price in writing
Ask for a written quote that sets out the work and the price before anything starts. Your contract for the work is with the tradesperson.
Plumber questions
What people usually ask before they post a job. Can’t see yours? Email hello@glosfix.co.uk and we’ll get back to you.
It depends on the job. Typical ranges: bathroom refit £3,000–£8,000; boiler replacement £1,800–£3,500; boiler service £70–£120. Figures are what GlosFix customers reported being quoted; a same-day call-out costs more. Post your job free and a local tradesperson will quote for it.
Post your job for free, with no account needed, and we send a notification to the plumbers on GlosFix who cover your area. The plumber who takes it on gets your contact details and contacts you directly to discuss a quote. Nobody else gets your details.
Yes, you are free to go direct. GlosFix saves you the searching and keeps your number to one local plumber.

For regular jobs, we leave the listing active for up to a month and check in with you by email and text so you can take it down. Emergency jobs are not left sitting on the site: if nobody has taken one on within 24 hours, we remove it and let you know.
Only for gas work. Anyone fitting, servicing or repairing a gas boiler, fire, cooker or gas pipework must be on the Gas Safe Register. Plumbing that doesn't touch gas, like taps, toilets or waste pipes, doesn't need it. Check the back of their Gas Safe ID card, which lists the types of gas work they're qualified for, or search the register at gassaferegister.co.uk.
It depends on the job. A new gas boiler should come with a completed Benchmark commissioning checklist, and Gas Safe Register should send you a Building Regulations Compliance Certificate once the engineer has notified the work. Notifiable electrical work, such as a new circuit for an electric shower, should be self-certified by a registered electrician or signed off by building control. Plumbers in an approved contractors' scheme, such as WaterSafe members, can give you a certificate of compliance under the Water Fittings Regulations. Keep it all together, as you may need it when you sell.
Check any registration the job needs, such as Gas Safe for gas work, and ask whether they have public liability insurance. Get a written quote that says what's included and what isn't: parts, making good, removing waste and old fittings. Ask what guarantee they give on their own work. Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, a trader must carry out a service with reasonable care and skill.
