Privacy notice

What we collect when you post a job or join as a tradesperson, why we need it, who sees it and how long we keep it.

Who we are

GlosFix is run by TWA Marketing Ltd, registered in England and Wales, company no. 17423341. Registered office: No1 Business Centre, 1 Alvin Street, Gloucester, GL1 3EJ. We are the controller of the personal data described here. If you have a question about it, email hello@glosfix.co.uk.

What we collect from customers

When you post a job we ask for:

  • the trade, the type of job, your description and any photos you add
  • your postcode and full address, and any notes about access to the property
  • your name, email address and phone number
  • when you want the work done, your rough budget and the best time to contact you
  • your answers to our follow-up messages, such as whether the tradesperson got in touch and how the job went

We remove location data from photos before we store them.

What we collect from tradespeople

  • your trading name, contact name, mobile number and email address
  • your Companies House number, or for sole traders, your public liability insurance details and a copy of the certificate
  • your base postcode, travel distance, trades, alert settings and quiet hours
  • the jobs you are offered, the jobs you buy, refund requests and customer feedback about you

Your card details are collected and held by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number.

Why we use it, and our lawful basis

  • Matching a job with a tradesperson and passing the customer’s details to the one tradesperson who buys it. This is the service you have asked us to provide, so our lawful basis is contract.
  • Confirming phone numbers and email addresses, and sending job alerts. Contract.
  • Follow-up messages to customers about whether the job is still wanted, whether the tradesperson has been in touch and how it went. Legitimate interests: we need to know leads are genuine and tradespeople are doing what they should.
  • Deciding which tradespeople hear about a job first. Legitimate interests. The full method is on our how jobs are shared page.
  • Verifying tradespeople against Companies House or their insurance certificate. Legitimate interests, to keep fake businesses off the platform.
  • Taking payment, issuing receipts and keeping financial records. Contract and legal obligation.
  • Optional reminder emails that you can switch off at any time. Consent.

Who we share it with

  • The one tradesperson who buys your job. They receive your name, phone number, email, full address, access notes and photos. From that point they are responsible for your data in their own right and may only use it for your job.
  • Stripe, who process card payments.
  • The companies that send our text messages and emails, and the company that hosts this website. They act on our instructions only.
  • Google, when you use the address lookup on the job form.

We do not sell your data or pass it to anyone for marketing.

How long we keep it

We remove customer contact details from a job 365 days after it closes. Receipts and financial records are kept for six years, because the law requires it. When a tradesperson closes their account we delete their saved card, uploaded documents, phone number and profile, and keep only the records of jobs they bought.

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of the data we hold about you, ask us to correct it or delete it, object to how we use it, or withdraw any consent you have given. Email hello@glosfix.co.uk and we will reply within one month.
